Start date: July 2003
This project aims to construct, test and evaluate and industry standard online question bank for introductory formal logic that could be used in conjunction with online assessment engines such as Question Mark Perception, the whole of which could subsequently be made available, quite generally, to any other interested institution. More specifically, the learniang technology would allow users to manifest the complete set of learning outcomes for introductory formal logic in the Philosophy Department at the University of Aberdeen and would provide a basis for the teaching team to assess the extent of the manifestation of those outcomes. Given that those outcomes, and such assessment, will be common to all University-level courses in introductory formal logic, it is anticipated that the outcomes of the project will be useful quite generally thourghout the logic teaching and learning community.
One of the results of this project was a paper written for Discourse, volume 4, number 1 (Autumn 2004), 'On Elementary Formal Logic'.
