The Subject Centre for Philosophical and Religious Studies ran the first Aspiring Academics workshop in Scotland. Designed for research students in philosophy, theology, religious studies, biblical studies and history and philosophy of science, this workshop offered an opportunity for aspiring academics to gather and share information and advice, and to develop the skills necessary for a successful academic career in the relevant discipline. The event aimed to be useful both for those already teaching and researching in departments, and those hoping to start their academic careers soon. It also provided a chance to meet fellow post-grads and academics working in relevant fields from all over Scotland and the rest of the UK.

This event was aimed at those who are planning a career in academia in the UK.

Contributors included:

  • Professor Larry Hurtado (School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh)
  • Professor Peter Clark (School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies, University of St Andrews)
  • Dr. Sara Parvis (School of Divinity, University of Edinburgh)
  • Dr Lisa Jones (School of Philosophical, Anthropological and Film Studies, University of St Andrews)
